Walking in May – New Spottings This Month

May has seen a few new sightings on our walks.  We were joined earlier in the month by sisters Fiona and Helen and another walking companion Lizzie and last week Robert flew in from Ireland to join us in the mountains,

On our walks we came across a wide variety of flowers

Including this Yellow Asphodel

Snap-Dragons

Pyramidal Orchids

Rusty – Foxgloves

And perfectly formed thistles.

Set against breathtaking scenery

The Cabballo Verde and 2000 Steps was a particular favourite

Following the steps of a mozarabic trail

Weaving our way up and down the valley

On ancient paths fringed with Orchids

On our journey we spied a very large (over half metre) lizard in a tree – well he was on the floor but Charlie chased him into the tree!

During our week we spotted a good number of butterflies, moths and dragonflies

A wonderful Glanville Fratillary

Including this amazing and rare Owly Sulphur – sometimes know as a Butterly Lion
