Walking with Our Guests “From Over the Pond!” – Week Commencing 15th March 2011

We felt very privileged that three delightful ladies, Suzanne and Claire from Canada and Alexis from the USA made the long journey, especially to be with us and sample some Spanish Mountain Walking.

After an amazing spell of weather our first walk The El Somo Circuit was a bit “fresh” so we were all well wrapped up when we set off

The ladies were very impressed with the stunning scenery

And enjoyed the contrasts of colours of the woods and mountains

On our “hike” we took time out to view some wonderful flowres, including this Saw Fly Orchid

And these lovely Sweet Violets

On our second walk, The Caballo Verde

The weather had improved and even more flowers were springing into life

It was much warmer so a few layers had been removed by the time we reached the ridge

So it was off along the ridge

Enjoying the sights of many flowers including a mass of asphodels

Rock Roses

And early Spotted Orchids

After our lunchbreak we started the 2000 steps

Walking around the broad track before stepping down into the bottom of the gorge

And then back out again

Our 3rd walk was Coll de Rates – the weather was great

Poppy photography proved very popular

With some pretty good results

On the first section we pass many flowers icluding the tiny jonquils

Amazing Mini Iris
