Today we are walking the imposing Bernia Circuit
After a 2km walk on the flat we reach the Font
Charlie has a quick drink before we start the ascent
The views are spectacular
It’s a bit of a pull going up, but we have plenty of breaks to admire the views
After about an hour we reach the Forat
It’s a small tunnel that we negotiate – everyone has there own method – usually accompanied by fits of giggles – Valerie was no exception!
The tunnel is only about 20 meters long and opens up to a large cavern
With fabulous views of the sea out to the Bay of Altea. We walk along the south side of the ridge and the sunshine and warmer weather has helped the flowers bloom – Spring in February!
We admire the first asphodel – these will grow to about 4ft high and have massive flower heads.
The deeply coloured Wild Iris
The pretty Rock Roses
Bright Yellow Jonquils
We then follow the track across the scree
Below a large goat herd – who were quite interested in our progress
The walk is about 4-5 hours depending on how many times you stop to admire the views and take photographs
